Aionian Life and Damnation

Aionian is not eternal, it is age-long or an unknowable amount of time. If we look into how that word was used in classic Greek literature and how modern translations and transliterations have been used we see that it is bound by time, yet time itself is eternal (yet constantly moving) as it is created in the image of the only eternal One, Father Yahweh, who is unchanging. This Greek word originated in the works of Plato whom the Apostles no doubt studied in order to learn Greek. They understood this word well and used it correctly, however it's meaning has been lumped together with aidios to mean eternal, much like hell, Hades and tartarus were combined.

Strong's Concordance
aiónios: agelong, eternal
Original Word: αἰώνιος, ία, ιον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: aiónios
Phonetic Spelling: (ahee-o'-nee-os)
Short Definition: eternal, unending
Definition: age-long, and therefore: practically eternal, unending; partaking of the character of that which lasts for an age, as contrasted with that which is brief and fleeting.

HELPS Word-studies
Cognate: 166 aiṓnios (an adjective, derived from 165 /aiṓn ("an age, having a particular character and quality") – properly, "age-like" ("like-an-age"), i.e. an "age-characteristic" (the quality describing a particular age); (figuratively) the unique quality (reality) of God's life at work in the believer, i.e. as the Lord manifests His self-existent life (as it is in His sinless abode of heaven). "Eternal (166 /aiṓnios) life operates simultaneously outside of time, inside of time, and beyond time – i.e. what gives time its everlasting meaning for the believer through faith, yet is also time-independent. See 165 (aiōn).

[166 (aiṓnios) does not focus on the future per se, but rather on the quality of the age (165 /aiṓn) it relates to. Thus believers live in "eternal (166 /aiṓnios) life" right now, experiencing this quality of God's life now as a present possession. (Note the Gk present tense of having eternal life in Jn 3:36, 5:24, 6:47; cf. Ro 6:23.)]

In other words, eternal life is a state of experiencing the life of Yahweh's unchanging nature (being at Sabbath rest) within the confines of moving time. Yet time itself is created and finite since Yahweh is timeless. All things proceed from Yahweh through Christ Yahshua and all thing must return to Christ Yahshua in order to return to Father Yahweh. For example, breathing is a parable of creation (Spirit = ruach = the breath of God which spoke into existence the Word). We can confirm this further by looking at many verses of the NT that explain how all of creation will be reconciled to Christ Yahshua, then to Yahweh. For example:

1 Cor 15:22-28
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming. Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. For “He has put all things under His feet.” But when He says “all things are put under Him,” it is evident that He who put all things under Him is excepted. Now when all things are made subject to Him, then the Son Himself will also be subject to Him who put all things under Him, *that God may be all in all*.

Heb 2:8-9
You have put all things in subjection under his feet.” For in that He put all in subjection under him, He left nothing that is not put under him. But now we do not yet see all things put under him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for *everyone*.

1 Tim 2:3-6
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires *all men* to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for *all*, to be testified in due time...

For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of *all men*, especially of those who believe.
1 Tim 4:10
Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to *all men*, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 5:18-21

For God has committed them all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on *all*. For of Him and through Him and to Him are *all things*, to whom be glory forever. Amen.
Rom 11:32,36

This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me *I should lose nothing*, but should raise it up at the last day.
John 6:39

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw *all peoples* to Myself.”
John 12:32

...as You have given Him authority over *all flesh*, that He should give eternal life to *as many as You have given Him*.
John 17:2

And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the *whole world*.
1 John 2:2

...that in the dispensation of the *fullness* of the times He might gather together in one *all things* in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. And He put *all things* under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the *fullness* of Him who *fills all in all*. He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill *all things*. till we *all* come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the *fullness* of Christ
Eph 1:10,22,23, 4:10,13

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus *every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess* that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Philip 2:9-11

...but Christ *is all and in all*.
Col 3:10

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and *for Him*. And He is before all things, and in Him *all things consist*. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that *in all things* He may have the preeminence. For it pleased the Father that in Him *all the fullness should dwell*, and by Him *to reconcile all things to Himself*, by Him, *whether things on earth or things in heaven*, having made peace through the blood of His cross.
Col 1:15-21

“Look to Me, and be saved,
*All you ends of the earth*!
For I am God, and there is no other.
I have sworn by Myself;
The word has gone out of My mouth in righteousness,
And shall not return,
That to Me *every knee* shall bow,
*Every tongue* shall take an oath.
He shall say,
‘Surely in the Lord I have righteousness and strength.
To Him men shall come,
And all shall be ashamed
Who are incensed against Him.
Isaiah 45:22-24

For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to *all men*, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.
Tit 2:11-14

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that *all through him might believe*. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light to *every man* coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
John 1:3, 7-13

...who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He *is able even to subdue all things to Himself*.
Philip 3:21

“I am the *Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End*,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Rev 1:8

Also, The Bible talks about the firstfruits quite a lot and this is explained in 1 Cor 15. Each in their own order... the firstfruits are the remnant Bride who are resurrected first at His second coming, who will return to earth and reign with Him a thousand years, to rule with Him with a rod of iron. Over these the second death has no power. Everyone else will have to pass through the Lake of Fire for an "age" or an unknowable amount of time. Jonah was in the whale for 3 days and nights yet he said it was "forever" (Jonah 2) and he said:
"Out of the belly of Sheol I cried...closed behind me forever..."
I find this an interesting testimony to how time is perceived within the construct of the human psyche (or soul as this Greek word is often translated). This is a spiritual battle for the mind which is the seat of the soul. The soul and the spirit are two separate parts of our being. We have a body, soul AND spirit. The soul and spirit are not the same thing. But I digress...

Let's now look at some proof that the translators had difficulty translating Matthew 6:13. Below are some screenshots of the Bible research software I use, Olive Tree.

The KJV has "for ever" as two separate words which coincides with the YLT (Young's Literal Translation) however I believe the YLT is more accurate after reviewing the expository notes from the dictionaries at the beginning of this post and in the screenshots here.

I also noticed there was the same issue with Jude 1:13
